P.M.R.Bonez88’s Horror Slasher Movie Review: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

My review of a Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors so don’t get scare now. Directed by Chuck Russell and the stars Heather Langekamp Patrica Arequette and Robert Englund. The third installment of the Nightmare franchises that became a horror cult classic. A couple teens that are in a institution that have incredible powers and called themselves, “Dream Warriors”. Nancy Thompson aids the dream warriors to stop an dream demon killer name Freddy Krueger and its up to them to fight off Freddy before it’s too late. One of my best favorite nightmare sequels and I felt this was the best out of the all. We see much more of Freddy and alot more kills, unlike part 2 this had a good story and some surprising secrets about Krueger’s background story and the Dream Warriors kicking some ass.

Since Wes Craven didn’t return for part 2 nor that he want to be involved on the franchises but he decided to do it for part 3 and started writing the script and the storyboard for it, plus to bring Freddy Krueger back into the dream reality. For the element of Dream Warriors was really darker and terrifying, but New Line Cinema said it was really too darker and gory so they told Wes to make some changes on the draft and Bruce Wagner was the one who changed the storyboard and the script but not alot. He did kept the dark elements of Wes Craven’s story but kept it less gory so it wouldn’t been a NC-17 movie.

The music of “Dream Warriors” was played by Dokken and they used the other music, “Into the Fire” for the intro of Nightmare 3. The music video is definitely my favorite and it also starred Patrica Arquette and Robert Englund playing as Kristen and Freddy Krueger.

The visual effects really amazing and great including where Kristen was almost getting eaten by a snake Freddy I felt that was scary and insane at the same time. Another scene where both Neil and Mr. Thompson were at the junkyard and trying to bury Freddy’s bones but then it came to life that was really scary and they used stop motions which that was also amazing.

Once again if you think your ready for Freddy, think again because he is coming for you.
